IE Loses More Ground to Firefox and Chrome

With the advent of Internet Explorer 8 earlier this year, Microsoft didn’t exactly manage to keep it a secret that it hoped the browser would turn things around when it comes down to market share. At the end of November 2009, IE’s usage share was down 6% compared to the start of the year, according to statistics offered by Net Applications, and IE8, released in March, did nothing to change the downward trajectory of Microsoft’s proprietary browser. Psystar Shifts Mac OS X Installation Responsibility to Customers

Psystar’s attorney has confirmed that the Florida-based Mac clone vendor would stop selling computers pre-loaded with Apple's operating system. The Mac cloner’s website currently shows that all systems previously shipping with OS X preinstalled are now "out of stock." However, going by recent reports, Psystar would be allowed to continue selling its Intel-based machines with other operating systems, while its controversial Rebel EFI utility, which allows users to install Mac OS X themselves, is still available for download. As reported earlier today, Psystar has agreed to pay Apple a total of $2.68 million in damages, attorneys fees and other costs, yet the agreement stipulates that Apple cannot collect until "any and all appeals in this matter are concluded or the time for filing any such appeal has lapsed," according to statements coming from Psystar’s legal. "We've agreed that Apple will not collect these damages until all appeals have been heard," Psystar's chief attorney K.A.D. Camera, of the Houston firm Camera & Sibley LLP, noted. ATI Radeon HD 5670 Allegedly Tested and Pictured

Sometime earlier, a community member of the [H]ardOCP HardForum posted pictures and test results of a graphics card that was, allegedly, a prototype of the ATI Radeon HD 5670, a low-end graphics card, which has not yet been officially announced. If the report is genuine, the card should be launched sometime in Q1 2010 and is a graphics adapter based on the Redwood 40nm GPU. The forum member not only posted pictures of the alleged 5670, but also subjected the card to performance tests using the CPU-Z 0.3.7 software on a base system composed of Intel Core i5 750 @ 2.66 GHz, Gigabyte P55M-UD2, and 4 GB of OCZ DDR3-1333 memory. The tests were done as a performance comparison between the card and the Radeon HD 4670 512 MB. The first test was running Street Fighter 4 at a resolution of 1600 x 1200, with no anti-aliasing, 16x anisotropic filtering. The card rendered the game with a frame-rate of 95.35 fps and scored 10,473 points, as opposed to the HD 4670, which only managed 8,559 points (a frame-rate of 65.35 fps). The second game the card was tested on was Unigine Heaven Demo v1.0 DirectX 10 (SM 4.0) on a resolution of 1024 x 768 in window mode. The game ran at 34.1 fps while the CPU operated at 2.53 GHz. Japanese and Western fans of the Japanese role playing genre should be happy to learn that Final Fantasy XIII, which is set to arrive for the PlayStation 3 in Japan this year and for the Sony platform and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft in March of 2010 on Western markets, should take at least 50 hours of their time.The complete experience of the title will likely take much longer as players will be encouraged to explore the game world and also replay it once they finished it once.Motomu Toriyama, who is the director working on Final Fantasy XIII for Square Enix, has told Japanese magazine Famitsu that “For XIII, the size of the entire game is considerable. Just running through the main story takes experienced players over 50 hours.
